Open Fields is being held on campus at UTS, and across the road at Serial Space Gallery. We will be making use of lecture halls, class rooms and a multi-use media studio at UTS, and the exhibition space at the gallery.

If you’re coming from out of town, we’d love to be able to help with funding, but at the moment we’re working on a pretty limited, self-generated budget. We’ll happily help you out with any ‘official’ things (letters?) you might need to seek your own funding.

Accommodation

There are a couple of youth hostels in the area, and some hotels. We don’t know what they’re like, so cannot make recommendations, but places to look at are Chippendale, Broadway, Railway Square and maybe Chinatown.

We’ve also had enquiries from out-of towners about the potential to be billeted – if you’re a Sydney local and have a spare bed or couch, or if you’re looking for one, send us an email at openfields2010@gmail.com and we’ll try to hook you up.

Meals

We’re providing lunch and afternoon tea on both days. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please email us.

Each evening there will be a break for meals, and the campus is right next to Chinatown and Broadway for food, and there are a few pubs that do meals in the area too. Thursday night we’re planning a communal eating time and will have more information about it closer to the time.

Rooms

Open Fields is taking place in the Bon Marche Building at UTS. Also known as Building 3 on the maps. Enter from Harris St to Level 1.

Presentation equipment

The UTS presentation/performance spaces are fully equipped lecture halls or media studios, with lectern mikes, data projectors VHS, DVD and CD players, overhead projectors and an audio line in.

You may need to bring the required cables if you plan to connect a laptop or other device through the system. This includes VGA cables, AV cables and the like.

Serial Space will be set up each night with the requirements for performances.

Get in touch if you think you need anything more than this, and if you have a more complicated set-up let us know ahead of time what you need, and/or arrange to see the space beforehand.
